HKGNA MUSIC FESTIVAL 2024
We’re thrilled to announce that HKGNA Music Festival 2024 “Musical Inspirations!” will captivate audiences from November 19th to 30th, 2024. This highly anticipated event will unite classical virtuosos, Canto-pop and K-pop sensations, and Hong Kong’s rising young talents on a single stage, showcasing the city’s vibrant musical landscape and positioning it as the global arts hub for the next generation!
Supported by the Tourism Commission, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Brand Hong Kong and The Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing and Tianjin Liaison Unit, HKGNA Music Festival 2024 promises to be a truly exceptional celebration of musical excellence and cultural exchange. The festival is proudly sponsored by the Lee Kum Kee, Yang Won Sun Foundation, Korean Women’s Association, Sino Group, and Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation, with RTHK Radio 4 and CJENM tvN Asia as global media partners, and Tianjin Juilliard School serving as Concert Partner for the November 24th event. Hotel sponsors include The Upper House and The Harbourview, and Cathay Pacific as official airline sponsor, with supporting partners Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong and Tom Lee Music. The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong and Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong also proudly support the event.
The festival’s program promises to be a captivating blend of musical genres and cultural exchanges. Highlights include a concert by double Grammy winner and world-renowned violinist, James Ehnes, with pianist Orion Weiss, who will bring the audience Beethoven’s beloved violin sonatas. Another must-see event is the Hong Kong debut performance of the Tianjin Juilliard Orchestra and their distinguished faculty members Violist Hanna Lee and Cellist Sihao He, under the baton of Ken Lam, who will take the stage alongside Hong Kong’s best and brightest young artists. The festival will also feature a world premiere special event: a duet by Hong Kong megastar Hins Cheung and Korean superstar Sung Si-Kyung, bridging the worlds of K-pop and Canto-pop with a unique language exchange performance. This historic collaboration will be accompanied by acclaimed music arranger Johnny Yim, the HKGNA Music Festival Youth Orchestra, the Hong Kong Youth Orchestra, and The Hong Kong Children’s Choir, under the direction of Andrew Ling and Leung Kin-fung. Korean celebrity host, Ms. Soojung Kang will be the Emcee of the November 29th concert.
In addition, the festival will showcase violin virtuoso and HK Phil Concertmaster Jing Wang, star soprano Louise Kwong, together with the talents of HKGNA International Music Competition Grand Prize winners, cellist Leland Ko and pianist Alex Wun, as well as young guzheng performer Jiawen Chen. We also proudly showcase the talents of violinist Angela Chan, the first winner of Joseph Joachim Violin Competition from Hong Kong in the event’s history.
For the third consecutive year, the HKGNA Music Festival 2024 will feature in CJENM’s tvN Asia TV program in eight regions, five times a year.
This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the convergence of musical brilliance and cultural exchange at the HKGNA Music Festival 2024 showcasing musical excellence, diversity, and youth empowerment!
