HKD800 Senior & Young Artist Divisions –Piano; Violin/Viola; Cello/Double Bass
HKD600 Junior Division –Piano; Violin/Viola; Cello/Double Bass

International Applicants:
US$100 Senior/ Young Artist Divisions –Piano; Strings (Violin/Viola/Cello)

Preliminary Round- Online Recording Submission
Hong Kong Applicants
Categories: Piano; Violin/Viola; Cello/Double Bass
Junior Division: maximum 10 minutes
- Age 12 & below
- Piano: Single or more works of recital repertoire at the applicant’s discretion
- Violin/ Viola: Single or more works of recital or concerto repertoire, at the applicant’s discretion
- Cello/ Bass: Single or more works of recital or concerto repertoire, at the applicant’s discretion
Senior Division: minimum 10 minutes
- Age 13-17 (must be in Hong Kong secondary/ high school)
- Piano: Two or more contrasting works of recital repertoire
- Violin/ Viola: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
- Cello/ Bass: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
Young Artist Division: maximum 15 minutes
- Age 18 -25 college students & above
- Piano: Two or more contrasting works of recital repertoire
- Violin/ Viola: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
- Cello/ Bass: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
Jury Special Prize: minimum 10 minutes
- Age 25 or below (Hong Kong Residents only)
- Piano: Two or more contrasting works of recital repertoire, at the applicant’s discretion

- Strings: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
Audition Repertoire Requirements
- Choice of repertoire within the required categories is at the candidate’s discretion. Candidates may present the same repertoire for both the semi-final and final auditions. However, for Strings (Violin/Viola, Cello/Double Bass): Concerto Repertoire performed in the Grand Prize Concerto Final is not eligible for repetition in this competition round.
- Candidates must be prepared to perform complete works or movements of longer works and perform all submitted repertoire in both live rounds. The Jury will ask to hear selections of the repertoire at their discretion.
- Memorization: Competition repertoire for all instruments must be performed by memory in all auditions.
Uploading a video on YouTube/Google / Baidu
applicable to both preliminary auditions (Hong Kong/ International applicants) and online Semi-final/ Solo Final (International Young Artists applicants)
- Video editing is forbidden: The video must not be edited by any means and must be recorded continuously from beginning to end.
- Title of the video: The video for HKGNA Music Competition 2025 must be titled as follows on YouTube/ Google/Baidu: “HKGNA Music Competition 2025 [First and last name of the applicant]”; all words should be separated by a space
- Video quality: A professional video is not required. However, clear audio and video quality (recommended 720p )are expected. Inadequate video quality can lead to an entry being disqualified.
- Image detail: The applicant’s head, arms, and hands/ The full ensemble must be clearly shown on the video. We highly recommend having a fixed camera position showing them at all times. The applicant(s) should behave as if they are performing in front of audience. The video can either be recorded at home, at school, in a recital hall, or any other place wherever suitable.
- Sound recording: The performance recorded for the video entry must be acoustic and not amplified or altered electronically in any way. The only microphone(s) used should be for recording.
- Privacy settings: When you upload the video to YouTube/Baidu, you must select “Unlisted” in the “Privacy” settings. If “Private” is selected, your submission will be invalid.
- Application form: Once the video has been uploaded to YouTube /Google/ Baidu as described above, the official HKGNA Music Competition 2025 application form must be filled out and submitted by email/online/post. It must contain the video link. Only then is the application completed.
Additional Requirements and Information
- Top prize winners will be determined by the Jury and the decisions are final.
- Accompanist: Please note that we do not provide an accompanist at this time. Therefore, please make your own arrangements if you require one. If you are having trouble finding an accompanist we may be able to recommend one to you, but we will need to know about this in advance and cannot make any guarantees.
- The organizer will not use any of the applicant recording materials for commercial activities and will not take responsibility for any of these materials found on the Internet or other media.
Travel Expenses
Contestants are responsible for their own and their accompanists’ travel and accommodation expenses unless specified. Applicants are solely responsible for the visa; they should check the visa requirements with the embassy or consulate.
General Terms and Conditions
Hong Kong Generation Next Arts Ltd (HKGNA) is not responsible for and shall not be held liable for (a) lost, late, delayed, damaged, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, or misdirected entries; (b) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; (c) failed, incomplete, partial, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions; (d) any condition caused by events beyond the control of HKGNA or the HKGNA Music Competition that may cause the competition to be disrupted; (e) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the competition; (f) any claims, suits, actions, liabilities, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind in connection with the competition or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of any prizes and awards.
By entering this competition, each entrant, parent or legal guardian (if such entrant is a minor) agrees to accept these rules and be bound by the decisions of HKGNA Music Competition, its Jury and staff, which are final and binding in all matters.
