- For Hong Kong Applicants -
Categories
- Piano: any recital repertoire at the applicant’s discretion
- Violin/Viola: any repertoire, including concerto at the applicant’s discretion
- Cello/Double Bass: any repertoire, including concerto at the applicant’s discretion
Contestants are welcome to join more than one category
Ages (as of Sept 29, 2025)
Junior Division
- Age 12 & below
- Piano: Single or more works of recital repertoire at the applicant’s discretion
- Violin/ Viola: Single or more works of recital or concerto repertoire, at the applicant’s discretion
- Cello/ Bass: Single or more works of recital or concerto repertoire, at the applicant’s discretion
- Preliminary Audition: maximum 10 minutes (online)
- Semi-final: minimum 10 minutes (live)
- Solo Final: maximum 15 minutes (live)
Senior Division
- Age 13-17 (must be in Hong Kong secondary/ high school)
- Piano: Two or more contrasting works of recital repertoire
- Violin/ Viola: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
- Cello/ Bass: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
- Preliminary Audition: minimum 10 minutes (online)
- Semi-final: maximum 15 minutes (live)
- Solo Final: maximum 20 minutes (live)
Young Artist Division
- Age 18 -25 college students & above
- Piano: Two or more contrasting works of recital repertoire
- Violin/ Viola: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
- Cello/ Bass: Two or more contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire
- Preliminary Audition: maximum 15 minutes (online)
- Semi-final: minimum 15 minutes (live)
- Solo Final: maximum 30 minutes (live)
For Strings (Violin/Viola, Cello/Double Bass): Concerto Repertoire performed in the Grand Prize Concerto Final is not eligible for repetition in this competition round. - Grand Prize Concerto Final Repertoires
Only First Prize winners from each category in the Young Artist Division are invited to perform on November 22
(Change of repertoire is not allowed once submitted after November 3rd)

Cello

Double Bass

Jury Special Prize Division
- Age 25 & below
- Hong Kong Residents only
- HKGNA is committed to serving our next generation of young artists, including those with disadvantaged circumstances and those that need special attention and nurturing. Therefore, a special prize will be awarded at the Jury’s discretion to a contestant who demonstrates musical talent and financial need.
- In addition to the regular requirements, the contestant must write a statement limited to 100 words on why he or she should be considered for this special prize. The contestant (or parent(s) if below 18) must submit a recent Hong Kong Tax Return as proof of income to demonstrate financial need. No application fee is required.
- Piano: Two contrasting works of recital repertoire, at the applicant’s discretion
- Strings: Two contrasting works of recital or concerto repertoire, at the applicant’s discretion
- Preliminary Audition: minimum 10 minutes (online)
- Semi-final: minimum 10 minutes (live)
- Final: maximum 30 minutes (live)
- For International Applicants -

Judges will choose only ONE First Prize Winner in the Young Artists Division to compete for the Grand Prize in Hong Kong. HKGNA will provide a round-trip flight to HK and hotel accommodation for the Grand Prize Concerto Final on November 22 in Hong Kong. (Change of repertoire is not allowed once submitted after the Solo Final round)
