Hong Kong-born young Violinist Brian Kwan Yeung Choi, has won numerous international competitions, including the winner of the Musicus Society‘s Young Artist Audition program in 2018, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition First Prize in 2017, the New York International Artists Association (NYIAA) First Prize in 2017, the Third Prize in the Boston Pops Concerto Competition in 2017, Third prize in the Bales Violin Competition in 2015, and the Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year First Prize in 2006. Brian is an avid violin soloist and chamber musician in Hong Kong. He is also currently the Concertmaster of the Hong Kong String Orchestra, Guest Concertmaster of the In-heritage Philharmonic, as well as Associate Concertmaster of the Opera Hong Kong Orchestra. 

Born in Hong Kong, Chris Choi Shu-lun began studying violin at the age of six and viola at 17 under the tutelage of Wang Jiayang and Ivan Chan at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), where he completed his Master of Music Degree with full scholarships. He joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018.

First Prize winner of the Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld 1st International String Competition (Chamber Music Division), Chris has performed extensively across Asia and Europe in venues including the Royal Academy of Music, the West Dean College, the Wells Cathedral, the Central Conservatory of Music, the Shantou University, the Harvard Club of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong City Hall; and in music festivals including the Pacific Music Festival (Japan), the Chilingirian’s Chamber Music Festival (UK), Musicus Fest (Hong Kong) and Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival. He also participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and toured with the Asian Youth Orchestra as Assistant Principal Viola. Other performances have included Walton’s Viola Concerto and Forsyth’s Viola Concerto with the Academy Symphony Orchestra, as well as solo performances at the ABRSM Prize Ceremony Presentation 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Violin

Anson Leung is an 18-year-old violinist, studying at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) under the tutelage of Mr. Ivan Chan with a full scholarship under the HKAPA Recruitment & Outstanding Scholarships, and a graduate of Diocesan Boys’ School. He has been learning violin under the tutelage of Mr. Calvin Wong and Ms. Feng Jia and has attained Diploma in Music Performance LTCL with distinction at the age of 12 and ATCL at the age of 10.

He has won various awards in music competitions, including the first prize of the Young Artists Violin Division, first prize and second prize of the Young Artists Chamber Music Division in the Hong Kong Generation Next Arts Ltd (HKGNA) International Music Competition 2023, the first prize of violin concerto age 13 or under, second prize of violin concerto age 19 or under and first prize of viola junior in the Hong Kong School Music Festival. He also won the champion of AIMA Young Soloist (Strings) Scholarship Group in 2023, first prize of the International Fringe Festival Prize Open Class in 2023, first prize of Violin Own Choice Class and first prize of String Open Class in Hong Kong International Music & Arts Festival (HKIMAA) in 2023, first prize of the Hong Kong Intercultural Young Musicians Competition in 2022, the champion of string professional in the Hong Kong Music Talent Music Competition, third place of open class from Hong Kong Youth Catania Music Competition and silver in the Wilh. Steinberg Youth Violinist Competition.

Anson actively participates in local and overseas concerts and performances. In July 2023, he participated in the Beijing Hong Kong TsingHua Summer Music Camp (北京香港學生清華音樂營) as concertmaster and soloist in Beijing and performed Vivaldi Concerto for 4 Violins with famous violinist Lü Siqing. During the music camp, he also had the opportunity to have a masterclass with him. He also joined the concert tour with Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra to China in 2016 and the Europe performance tour with the Symphony Orchestra of Diocesan Boys’ School in 2019.

Anson was the vice-chairman of the Diocesan Boys’ School music department, and he was the second violin principal of the Symphony Orchestra and assistant concertmaster of the String Orchestra at Diocesan Boys’ School. He was also the violist of school chamber and assisted in supervising regular practice of the school orchestra viola section members.

Suet Yin is earning a bachelor’s degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studying with Michael Ma. She was awarded the Grand Prize in the 2021 Chamber Music Division of the HKGNA International Music Competition, and was a prize winner of the HKAPA Concerto Competition in 2022. Solo appearances include the HKAPA Academy Symphony Orchestra.

A graduate of Diocesan Girls’ School and currently a student of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a full scholarship under the HKAPA Recruitment & Outstanding Scholarships, Chloe is studying violin with Mr Ivan Chan. She began learning violin from Miss Feng Jia at the age of 8 and has attained Trinity FTCL Violin diploma and LTCL Violin diploma, as well as Trinity LTCL Viola diploma under the tutelage of Mr Johnny Ng Ting Kwong.

Chloe has actively participated in many international and local music competitions. Most recently, she achieved champion in the violin senior category, champion and second place in the chamber young artist category with string quartet and duet respectively in the HKGNA International Music Competition 2023, and Gold Award in violin solo in the 2023 Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area Young Artist Music Week. She has achieved awards from the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival as well, including champion in Scholarship in Stringed Instruments group in the 75th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, in which she was invited to perform in the 75th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival Prize Winners Concert in Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall; champion in senior violin duet in the 74th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival; champion in violin solo with the score of 97 in the 73rd Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, in which she was also awarded the Grantham Music Award and invited to perform in the Opening Ceremony of the 74th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, her video recording was also broadcasted in the television program “The 73rd Hong Kong Schools Music Festival” on Radio Television Hong Kong. She was also the champion of the Youth Free Program group from the 19th Osaka International Competition; champion of the AIMA International Music Competition Live Final in Taipei Strings Open Group; champion of the Violin Young Artist Category in the Vivaldi International Music Competition in 2022; champion of the Bowed Strings Open Class (Overseas) in the Hong Kong Talent Music Award in 2022; champion of the Virtuoso String Class in the Fringe Inter-School Music Competition in 2022; champion of the Violin Adolescent Class in the Hong Kong (Asia Pac) Bauhinia Cup 6th Strings Competition in 2022, in which she was also awarded a scholarship; champion of the Wien International Youth Musicians Music Competition in 2020, in which she achieved a perfect score from Prof. Konstantin Weitz; the champion of the Strings Advanced Group of the Italy Hong Kong International Music Competition; champion of the Youth Group in the Hong Kong International Music and Arts Festival Global Final in 2019; champion of Viola group of Aegean Sea International Music Competition in Taiwan in 2018; and champion of Okinawa International Music Competition in 2015.

Besides competitions, in August 2023, Chloe toured with the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra as soloist and concertmaster to Singapore and performed Wieniawski’s Polonaise No. 1, Op. 4 and Tchaikovsky’s Melodie from Souvenir d’un lieu cher in Victoria Concert Hall. She performed these pieces again in the “Homecoming Concert” in Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall, and the concert was later documented in Ta Kung Pao and reviewed on RTHK Radio 4 Art News by Mr Oliver Chow. During the tour, in a visit to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore, she performed as a representative of Hong Kong for the Director of the office and its staff, in order to showcase the artistic talents of Hong Kong. In August 2022, she performed “Autumn” from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with the DGS String Orchestra as soloist. In May 2021, she performed the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1, 3rd Movement in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall with the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra. In 2019, she toured with the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra as violin soloist and performed in Russia and Northern Europe, including Finlandia Hall, Musikaliska and Capella in Russia. In the same year, she also performed as violin soloist in the “Road to Elite I” and “Homecoming Concert” with the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra. She was also selected as Music Ambassador by the HUB Hong Kong and performed for charity.

Chloe has had the opportunities to participate in the masterclasses of the Music Director of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Christoph Poppen, fixed-chair first violinist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Chan Yoong-Han, held in the Yong Siew To Conservatory of Music, and renowned violinists, Richard Lin, Aylen Pritchin and Yang Xiaoyu, and was given much professional advice and guidance. In the summer of 2021, Chloe completed the Curtis Mentor Network with Dr. Solomiya Ivakhiv, Head of Strings from the Curtis Institute of Music. In July 2022, she was invited by the Asian Youth Orchestra as a guest player in their alumni orchestra to perform in the “Celebration of Life” concert. In April 2021, Chloe was one of the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra members selected to join forces with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta to play in the world premiere of the opera Alice in Wonderland, which was a very enlightening experience for her.

Chloe had received conditional offers from both Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She was awarded with the scholarships of DGS Exhibition for Music in the academic years 2019 to 2022. She was also shortlisted for the Performing Artist category in this year’s SCMP Student of the Year Awards for the academic year 2021-2022. She served as the concertmaster of the Diocesan Girls’ School String Orchestra; the associate concertmaster of the Diocesan Girls’ School Symphony Orchestra; and currently serves as the concertmaster of the Hong Kong Youth Orchestra, the concertmaster of the Beethoven Orchestra and was the concertmaster of the Mozart Orchestra in the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra.

 16-year-old Charlotte Woo is a student at Diocesan Girls’ School and the Junior Music Program of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts studying violin and chamber music with Professor Ivan Chan. She is a scholarship recipient at both prestigious institutions. In past summers, she has also furthered her skills at the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg and the Heifetz Institute of Music where she was also awarded merit scholarships.

In September 2023, Charlotte had the honour of being selected as Hong Kong’s representative at the 5th Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians, where she contributed her expertise as a jury member for the final rounds, evaluating the Youth Jury Special Prizes.

Charlotte is no stranger to the stage. After passing the ABRSM Grade 8 examination with High Distinction at the age of eight, she was invited to perform at the High Achievers’ Concert in the same year. She was invited by renowned conductor Wilson Ng to perform as a soloist with the Gustav Mahler Orchestra at two charity concerts. Her other solo appearances in the past included Symphonic Cordiality Orchestra, the China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Metropolitan Pop Orchestra and the DGS Symphony Orchestra.

She is the recipient of the Grantham Music Award and the Champion of the Hong Kong Strings Scholarship for Stringed Instruments class at the 2022 Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. Her other awards include top prizes at the International Fringe Music Competition, HKGNA Competition, Praelusio International Music Competition, Asco International Music Competition, Singapore Raffles International Music Festival as well as the Wilh Steinberg Young Violinists Competition. She is also a two-time winner of the DGS Concerto Competition.

Currently, Charlotte serves as the Chairlady and concertmistress of the DGS String Orchestra , and is a member of the HKGNA Young Virtuosi. She was the first violinist of the DGS Piano Ensemble which was awarded First Prize and the Gold Award at the 2024 Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.

Ariane Lee, 16, is a junior at Hong Kong International School. She began her musical studies at the age of four and currently studies with Hong Ying Ho. Ariane’s notable musical achievements include winning 3rd prize in the 2022 Osaka International Music competition, being selected as an International Solo Finalist in the 2022 and 2023 AMIS (Association for Music in International Schools) competition. Additionally, she won first prizes in the 2021 Grand Virtuoso International Music competition and Golden Classical Music Awards and was invited to perform in Carnegie Hall and Beethoven Haus Bonne. As an avid orchestra member, Ariane has been a first violinist in the Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, a merit-based scholarship pre-professional orchestra since 2021. Recently, she was selected as co-concertmaster in the 2023 Asia Pacific Activities Conference orchestra. In the summer of 2023, Ariane attended the Meadowmount School of Music and studied under Janet Sung. She has performed in masterclasses for Andrey Baranov, Martin Funda, Sungju Lee, and Hyuna Kim. In addition to playing the violin, Ariane loves to research indigenous cultures, write, and learn foreign languages.

Madeleine has roots in Hong Kong and Korea. Passionate about playing the violin, she studies with Professor Michael Ma in the Junior Program at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. Madeleine has won top prizes at local and international music competitions, including Hong Kong International Music Association Awards and most recently, the Asian String Teachers Association. She has honed her musical talent and collaborative skills through prestigious music programs, the first being Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard where, as the youngest participant, she was named Junior MVP for talent. Madeleine was also part of Music Festivals at the Heifetz PEG (Program for Exceptionally Gifted) and the Philadelphia International Music Festival. In 2022, she had the honour to be the youngest participant in the HKGNA Music Festival Youth Orchestra playing with international stars such as soprano Sumi Jo, which was broadcast and live-streamed by Korea’s CJENM tvN network and recorded a wide global audience. In 2023, she had the rare opportunity to be invited to attend Masterclasses with world-class violinists Nikki Chooi and Timothy Chooi.

Madeleine is a sophomore high schooler at the German-Swiss International School where she actively takes on leadership roles in all aspects of music. She has served as Music Ambassador for many years and led the Junior Strings Ensemble before joining the Senior Strings Ensemble. She loves to perform on various occasions in and outside the school and derives great joy when performing ensembles with her pianist sister, Audrey. She believes in nurturing every musician’s talent, and helps other junior string players rehearse for concerts and charity events. She and Audrey regularly spend time with seniors at community centres, performing pieces and engaging their ears and mind with all things musical. Her other passions are reading, writing and languages. In her spare time, she promotes awareness and a commitment to combat desertification — a family legacy that she takes seriously — to young people.

Renee Tsui, currently thirteen years old, studies at St. Paul’s Co-educational College (SPCC). Her musical journey began with learning viola at the age of six. Three years later, her great passion in music has led her to start playing the violin and is now under the tutelage of Ms. Connie Lo. Despite her young age, Renee’s dedication and skills have led to exceptional achievements. She received the Licentiate (LTCL Viola) and the Licentiate (LTCL Violin) at age ten and eleven respectively. Renee’s musical prowess has garnered recognition from prestigious organizations. She has received scholarships from St. Paul’s Co-educational College for two consecutive years as a Young Talent, along with grants from the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund. Notably, she was the winner of the 75th HKSMF 2023-Grantham Music Award and champion of various music competitions, including Hong Kong Generation Next Arts (HKGNA2023 – Violin Jr Division), the 75th Hong Kong School Music Festival, the 10th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival, and 1st runner up of the 10th Hong Kong International Music Festival 2023 [WU1] Beyond competitions, Renee actively participates in music ensembles and performances. She was selected as a member of the SPCC Program for the Musically Gifted (PMG). Through this program[WU2] , she had the opportunity to perform with the London Mozart Players, the longest-established chamber orchestra in the UK, and represent the school to perform at the Sydney Town Hall in Australia. Outside of school, Renee excels as a first violinist in the Hong Kong Children Symphony Orchestra. She has previously held the position of Viola Principal in the HKAPA Junior Symphony Orchestra. Renee’s musical journey has included participation in esteemed events such as the HKGNA Music Festival 2022 and the Musicus Society 2022/23 Ensemble Training Program, where she collaborated with renowned artists. Furthermore, she has demonstrated her exceptional talents as a soloist in performances at Good Hope Primary School cum Kindergarten and Yip’s Talent’s String Concert.

Currently 15 years old, Ally Chung began playing the violin at five years old and she has made many achievements at a young age. She obtained distinction in LTCL Violin examination at the age of 13, and later a Distinction in LTCL Viola examination.

Moreover, Ally has won prizes at numerous competitions such as the Hong Kong School’s Music Festival in violin, viola and piano solo category multiple times respectively. She was awarded the 2nd place in 75th Hong Kong School Music Festival in the category of Violin Concerto aged 19 or under and also 2nd place in Viola Solo Senior.

In addition, Ally has been an active member of the string orchestra, symphony orchestra and string quartet in her school, Good Hope School. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Kwong Yan Lok Anson, aged 17, a Form 6 student from St. Paul’s College. He started learning the violin at the age of Four.

Anson has been actively participated in musical ensembles. He was St. Paul’s College’s orchestra concertmaster (year 2022/23). In the same year, he joined as a violinist in Ponte Orchestra under its Talented Secondary School Musician Apprenticeship Scheme, and he also performed with The Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia (HKYP) in the summer concert of 2023.

Anson was awarded a 6-year Scholarship for Talented Musicians from St Paul’s College and a scholarship for Talented Students in Non-academic Fields by Robert Black Trust Fund.

He loves participating in music festivals and competitions. He was one of the awarded winners in HKGNA International Music Competition 2023; he also received several awards at Hong Kong School Music Festivals (HKSMF) in the past years, including 1st prize in both the Violin Sonata (the 71st. & 74th HKSMF)and Intermediate Violin Duet (the 71st. HKSMF), 3rd prize in the Violin Concerto Age 19 or under (the 73rd & 74th HKSMF). He was also shortlisted as a finalist in the Performing Artist category at the South China Morning Post’s Student of Year Awards 2022/23.

In Musicus Fest 2021, he was selected to perform in the masterclass by Ms Elissa Lee and in the 2nd Premia International Young Artists Music Festival, he won the first prize in the Young Artists category and received a scholarship to perform in the Prizewinners Gala Concert at the Carnegie Hall, New York in July 2023 and was also awarded to demonstrate in the masterclass coached by James Cuddeford in May 2023. Anson will hold a violin recital at St John’s Cathedral, Hong Kong, in Feb, 2024.

Tsz Hin PEI’s passion for violin learning started from 2015 at the age of five. The milestones for her violin playing include: the annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals, Hong Kong International Music Festival 2023, Fringe Inter-School Music Competition 2023, HKGNA International Music Competition 2021, and 2021 Wilh. Steinberg Young Violinists Competition etc. Tsz Hin also had the honour to participate in Masterclasses and perform in front of the renowned violinists from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama etc.

Apart from individual studies, Tsz Hin enjoys performing in ensembles both inside and outside the school as well – she was Concertmistress of the String Orchestra of the Diocesan Girls’ Junior School, first violin of the school’s String Quartet. She was selected a member of the Hong Kong Youth Orchestra in joining the Kunming Nie Er Symphony Orchestra’s performance in the 2023 Nie Er Music Week. She was also a member of the Musicus Inspires! project organized by the Musicus Society, and performed on the Musicus Fest 2023 along with Camerata Salzburg.

Serafina Luk, aged 11, started to  learn violin performance at Yip’s Children’s Choral and Performing Arts Centre from 4 years old and has been under the tutelage of Ms Beedarn Chao. Serafina received her ATCL Diploma in violin performance from Trinity College London at the age of 8. She has attended Cremona International Music Academy & Festival in the summers of 2018 to 2021 and 2023 and Music Academy for Young Professionals in the summers of 2021 and 2022. 

Serafina is an active performer and has performed at violin masterclasses by Nancy Zhou, Grigory Kalinovsky, Guy Figer, Francesca dePasquale, Richard Lin, Vincent Chao, Saul Bitran,  Yair Kless, Christoph Poppen and Ulf Wallin. Serafina performed at the Yips’ Talent’s Strings Concert in 2019, and as violin soloist with different orchestras including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra at its fund-raising concert, China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra concert, International Youth Chamber Orchestra and Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra Spring Concert in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively. She has also given a recital recently in February 2024 together with her quartet members as part of “Sway Young Artists” series.  

Serafina has received a number of awards from local and overseas competitions, including First Prize in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, Gold Award in Osaka International Music Competition (Hong Kong round), First Prize in Hong Kong Students Open Music Competition, First Prize in Hong Kong International Music & Arts Festival Competition, First Prize in Amigdala International Music Competition (held in Italy), First Prize in Tokyo International Music Competition (held in Japan), First Prize in Golden Classical Music Awards Music Competition (and was invited to perform in Carnegie Hall, USA), First Prize in London International Music Competition, Third Prize in Cremona International Music Competition for Strings 2023 (held in Italy) and Gold Award in The Second Guangdong-HK-Macau Greater Bay Area Young Artist Week Strings National Final. 

She is currently a member of first violin of Beethoven Orchestra of The Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra.  Serafina has also been admitted to Musicus Society ensemble training and has performed alongside with Camerata Salzburg. Serafina also enjoys chamber music immensely, and she is a violinist in a string quartet which has recently received Third Prize in the Chamber Music Junior Division (18 and under) of the HKGNA International Music Competition 2023.

Apart from violin, Serafina also studies voice and piano and has received placements in both singing and piano competitions including the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.

Wong Ho Hei is 12 years old. He started playing the violin at the age of four and a half. He studied violin with Mr. John Ma, Mr. Ray Tsoi, at the age of six and seven respectively.

In 2021, he passed the ABRSM Grade 8 violin exam with excellent results. In the same year, he gets in the junior music program, organised by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In 2023, he also obtained the Performance Diploma LTCL in violin with excellent results. He is currently the concert master of the Junior String Ensemble of the HKAPA. He is also the first violin member of the China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Ho Hei has won many awards in local and overseas competitions, including the 19-year-old Violin Concerto Champion at the 76th Hong Kong School Music Festival, the Champion at the Osaka International Music Competition (Hong Kong Regional ), and the Champion of the 13th ZhongSin International Music Competition (Open Category)(held in Singapore), Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival (Diploma Class) Champion, Hong Kong Talented Youth Music Competition Champion, Champion of Global Final of HKIMAA Hong Kong International Music & Arts Festival (Open Children Class), Hong Kong International String Open Competition Second Place, 11th Hong Kong International Music Festival First Place.

Ho Hei was also admitted to the Musicus Society for orchestra training program , and was invited to join the HKGNA Young Virtuosi, and performed with violinist Sean Lee in March 2024. He also participated in and performed violin master classes of Jing Wang, Mikhail Pochekin, Bradley Creswick and Alexander Markov.

Viola

Jack Wong is currently studying towards a bachelor degree in Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He started learning the violin and viola at young age with Feng Jia and Johnny Ng. Jack is majoring the viola under the tutelage of Ray Tsoi now and he he has attended many masterclasses taught by renowned violist in Budapest, the Franz Liszt Academy of Music.

Jack has won various awards in music competitions for the violin and viola solo, violin duet and string ensemble in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.

Jack is enthusiastic in music and he is an active performer. He participated as a violist in 2023 Asian Youth Orchestra and performed in Ponte Orchestra, Cantabile Symphony Orchestra etc. Being a previous violinist and violist in the Hong Kong Children Symphony Orchestra as well as the concertmaster of Wah Yan Kowloon School Symphony and String Orchestra, he has performed in many countries such as Italy, Germany, America, China, Singapore, Taiwan etc. Other than classical music, Jack has also performed actively in pop music working with Albert Au, Hacken Lee, Joyce Cheng, Terence Lam, Keung To etc.

Jack has attained distinction in Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) in violin and viola in 2016 and 2018.

Hong Kong-born violist and violinist Wong Ki Chung graduated from Wah Yan College, Kowloon. He is currently studying at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in viola performance under the tutelage of Dr. Felix Ungar and has been the recipients of the SAR Philharmonic Scholarships.

He was elected in the Asian Youth Orchestra 2023 as principal violist and perform in Asian Youth Orchestra under the baton of Joseph Bastian with violinist Ning Feng, cellist Alban Gerhardt and soprano Lydia Teuscher. As a violinist and violist, he has actively participated in various performances with different organizations, including the Borromeo String Quartet, Cantabile Symphony Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, Ponte Orchestra, Festival Orchestra, Tranquilo Collective, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia and Musician United. He also organized a performance of baroque music and performed at a banquet that was featured in the South China Morning Post. At the same time, he is keen on popular music and has performed on stage at Hacken Lee’s Concert 2023 and RubberBand ‘Live by the Habour’.

He has attended in the classes of Toko Inomoto, Domas Juškys, Leo Philips and Kertész István. He also took part in music exchanges and performances in Italy, Germany, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Budapest and Beijing.

Cello

Erica Wong began studying cello from an early age with Juanita Wong under the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior Music Programme. She is now studying with the support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships for a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree with Ray Wang at the Academy. Erica is an active performer, having played in masterclasses by distinguished cellists such as David Strange, Rhonda Rider, Giovanni Gnocchi, Yeonjin Kim and Trey Lee. She has appeared as soloist with the Academy Symphony Orchestra. She also participates enthusiastically in orchestral and chamber activities, having joined music camps including the Pacific Cello Orchestra, the European Music Institute Vienna, the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia and the Hong Kong Music Summer Orchestra. Erica achieved distinction in LTCL in 2017 and has received several awards in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival Cello Solo and Sonata categories. She placed second with her piano trio in the chamber category of the 2021 Hong Kong Generation Next Arts Competition and was part of the HKAPA’s representative chamber team in the Shanghai University School of Music’s “Shanghai Spring” performances.

Ho Yi Hang is currently a student of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a graduate and a 6-year full music scholarship recipient at St. Paul’s College, where he has served as the chairman of the Music Union and Symphony Orchestra of the college in the 2021/22 academic year. He has been playing the cello since the age of 6, under the tutelage of Jamie Jim in the early years. Ho has been admitted to the Junior Music Programme of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) since 2016, and is currently receiving guidance from Prof. Ray Wang.

Aiming to be a well-experienced musician, Ho has participated in various competitions internationally, winning prizes in Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland, and Poland. He was also awarded the LTCL in cello performance with distinction.

As a local young musician, Ho currently serves as a committee member of the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia, a completely student-led orchestra. Since his secondary school years, he has been actively involved in local music activities, including HKAPA Junior Symphony Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, Pacific Cello Orchestra of Hong Kong, HK Youth Symphony Orchestra, HK Children’s Symphony Orchestra, and others.

Harris is a passionate 15-year-old cellist from Hong Kong. He is currently studying at the Virtual Menuhin School (VMS) and playing the cello with the Hong Kong City Chinese Orchestra. Harris studied cello with Professor Jennifer Langridge of the RNCM (Royal Northern College of Music), Ruth Bingham of Shrewsbury School UK, and Richard Bamping, principal cellist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Harris achieved Distinction in his ARSM cello diploma in 2022 and also Distinction with his LTCL diploma in 2023. His most recent accolades include winning the First Prize (Junior Category) at the Professor Dichler Competition in Wiener Musikseminar of August 2023, the Third Prize in the Senior Cello Division of the HKGNA International Music Competition in November 2023, and the Silver Prize at the Euterpe Music Awards (Junior B Cello) in December 2023. Harris has participated in masterclasses with notable cellists, including Professor Claudia Sallagar (MDW, Vienna), Professor Guy Johnston (Eastman School of Music, USA), Ulrich Heinen (Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, UK), and Professor Ray Wang (HKAPA, Hong Kong). His passion and talent continue to shape his impressive musical journey.

Double Bass

Vincent Cheng, a student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong studying Biomedical Science, has been playing the Double Bass since the age of 10. He has participated in numerous music-related events, showcasing his talent through orchestra performances and captivating solo acts. Despite not pursuing music as his primary field of study, playing the bass brings him immense fulfillment and joy. Vincent’s unwavering dedication to both his academic pursuits and his musical passion serves as a testament to his indomitable spirit and inspires those around him.

Moses Chau is 13 years old and he is Form 2 studying at St. Paul’s College. He plays double bass and the piano. He loves music very much and he likes to compose songs in his leisure time since he was 6 years old.

 

He is currently member of School Orchestra, Concert Band, School Pianist, Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, and O Wind Ensemble.

Isaac is currently a Form 5 IB student, studying at St. Paul’s Co-educational College. Isaac embarked on his voyage in music when he started playing the double bass at the tender age of 6. Since then, he has discovered his interest in music, and has been actively participating in music teams throughout his life in both his primary and secondary schools. Though not active in competitions, Isaac has never denied his enthusiasm and zeal in music. His dedication is reflected upon the emotion portrayed within his performances, unravelling his innate musical sense and flow of musicality. As of now, Isaac is learning the double bass under the tutelage of Mr. Eddie Zong.

Isaac is an active member within the musical community of his school. He currently serves as a committee member in the Symphony Orchestra, as well as the chairman of the Senior Mixed Voice Choir. He had also been part of the Programme for the Musically Gifted (PMG), further demonstrating his raw talent and commitment in music.

Piano


In 2013, Alex Wun studied with Andrew Ma in the Junior Program of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and is currently a final year Bachelor of Music student with Professor Gabriel Kwok. He has participated masterclasses by Victor Rosenbaum, Pascal Roge, Wojciech Switala, Arie Vardi, Kun Woo Paik and Yoheved Kaplinsky.

Alex took part in the Summer Academy at Mozarteum University, HKEMA International Music Festival and Tianjin Julliard Piano Festival. In 2023 summer, he performed at the Palais Wittgenstein in Dusseldorf.

In 2023, Alex won the Grand Prize of the HKGNA competition, First Prize of the 87th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition – Hong Kong and Macau regional finals, First Prize of the 5th International Liszt Ferenc Competition and the European Star International Festival Young Artist Award.
